'Apologetic' Musharraf seeking govt permission to leave Pakistan, says defence minister

Former president Pervez Musharraf is apologetic to the Pakistan Government and is seeking permission to leave the country, Defence Minister has said.

In a TV interview, Khwaja Asif claimed that Musharraf is willing to come down to any level to get out of the situation.

According to the Nation, this is the first time that a senior minister has claimed that the former president is apologising to the government.

Asif added that everybody was equal before the law and the state must demonstrate that there was rule of law in the country.

Asif alleged that Musharraf was facing no medical problem and was hiding at the AFIC only to escape legal proceedings, the report added.
