Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday announced the launching of a cab hailing app within the next three months for black and yellow taxis on the lines of taxi aggregators like Ola and Uber.

"The government is in the process of developing an electronic platform for black and yellow taxis similar to that of cab aggregators. It will provide services similar to those given by cab aggregators," said Fadnavis in a session of the Council.

The app, which will be launched in the next three months across Maharashtra, will enable the black-and-yellow taxis in the city to charge their own rates.

The proposed fare card has been submitted to the state-appointed BC Khatua-led Taxi Trade Enquiry Committee, which will decide the formulation for calculating the rates for taxis, auto-rickshaws and app-based Uber and Ola.
