Apple has reportedly filed a patent, detailing new methods to prevent texting while driving.

The iPhone-maker has joined the league of companies that have already launched their own apps in the market to stop people from texting after they get behind the wheel.

According to CNET, published on Tuesday by the US Patent and Trademark Office, an Apple patent called "Driver handheld computing device lock-out" proposes a couple of different ways to cut off texting and other cell phone features while you're driving.

While in one of the scenarios presented by Apple, the technology would work by detecting the motion of the driver while analyzing the surrounding scenery automatically, the second scenario would have the car's ignition key send a signal to the phone to disable texting, the report added.
