Former Minister of State for Home and Congress leader R.P.N Singh on Thursday asked whether key ministers of the NDA Government were accountable to the nation or to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

"The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is remote controlled by the RSS. What the nation wants to know is whether the BJP government is accountable to the people of the country or the RSS? It has always been said that the RSS is a cultural organisation and it does not take part in political functions. But today, we see that report cards of eminent ministers like the Defence Minister, Home Minister or the Education Minister being given to the RSS," said Singh.

Squarely blaming the BJP for the recent transfers and retirements of various secretaries, Singh pointed out that even people with fixed-term tenures are taking voluntary retirement.

"The recent VRS by various secretaries gives us a feeling that the BJP will make people take VRS if they don't work in accordance with the party. Anyone who will want to work according to oneself or not listen to the BJP will either be transferred, or be forced to take retirement," Singh added.

L. C. Goyal took voluntary retirement from the position of home secretary on Monday. This decision was followed by the late night removal of additional Secretary Anant Kumar Singh.
