Offering a bizarre explanation for a mystery hand injury sustained at Bayern Munich's training base in Qatar on Saturday, Dutch winger Arjen Robben has claimed that he had been bitten by a crocodile.

A photograph of Robben was published on the website of a German newspaper, apparently with the fingers of his left hand bound up with tape.

Robben revealed that he when he got a ball from a hole near the pool, a crocodile bit him, Sport24 reported.

However, Bayern has offered no explanation for Robben's claim, although crocodiles are not a native species in the desert state, the report added.
