A 50 feet bridge has been constructed at Baltal, North Kashmir by an Army Engineer Regiment of the Srinagar based Chinar Corps to facilitate the heavy rush of pilgrims who will undertake the annual Amarnath Yatra.
The bridge will facilitate smooth movement of the pilgrims and security forces as well as their vehicles. It will also be of great assistance in dealing with medical emergencies and unforeseen natural calamities.
Baltal is the main route for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra which takes place every year from this route. With this bridge in place, the administration is ready for the Yatra to begin on June, 28.
The project was completed with close support of the civil administration and was inaugurated by Mr. Preet Pal Singh, Additional CEO, Shri Amarath Shrine Board.
Singh thanked the Army and district administration, Ganderbal, for constructing the bridge in record time. He stated that the Army had been approached to construct the bridge after the existing bridge had been rendered unusable due to heavy snowfall in the Baltal-Domel area.
The Additional CEO also complimented the soldiers who worked with great enthusiasm and professionalism to complete their task.
