The Government of Assam has called in the army for rescue and relief efforts in the flood-hit areas of the state.
It is approximated that more than three lakh people have been affected by the floods.
A defence ministry spokesman said two columns of the army have been deployed for the relief operations in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts.
Several rivers in the state have crossed the danger mark.
At least 620 villages in 13 districts of the state are flood affected, and around 85,000 people are taking shelter in temporary relief camps.
