Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag confirms evacuation of 49832 people this morning

Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag confirmed here on Wednesday that in the morning 49832 people were evacuated from flood hit areas.

He also assured that the army is working in full swing as the rescue operations are going on day and night.

"Army is there, no doubt about that, rescue operations are on day and night. We are supplying all essentials like food, water, blankets; etc, additional medical teams are there. We are trying to restore road communication till tomorrow, probably light vehicles will be able to come in," said Suhag.

Suhag also said that they are trying to restart the communication and they have also given the satellite phones. The mobile communication will start very soon.

 

"We have enough boats, now we need to supply food, water and medicine to the people. In the morning total number of people evacuated was 49,832. Those who need have been admitted to the hospital also as we have additional team for that," he added.

Earlier today, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while conducting an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas himself dropped relief material for the victims and said that supplying food, water and medicine is his government's top priority.
