In an award ceremony held in Udhampur today, GOC Northern Command chief Lt Gen Ranbir Singh felicitated teachers of Army Goodwill Schools. Over 24 selected teachers from various Army Goodwill Schools from entire Jammu and Kashmir were awarded for their innovative skills in teaching.

The awards were given under three different categories- Primary, Middle and Secondary level and the names of the teachers were selected through a stringent process of evaluation based on their teaching ability and creation of innovative teaching aids.

In the end, the Army Commander exhorted the teachers to be role models and mould the students to be responsible citizens of the country.

Started with just four primary schools in 1998, Northern Command is currently running 45 Army Goodwill Schools under Project Sadbhavana which provides education to 15000 students and employs 1000 teaching and non-teaching staff.

The schools have constantly endeavoured to co-opt modern teaching aids, such as digital classrooms, modern labs, well-stocked library and excellent sports infrastructure thus positively contributing to the growth of Jammu and Kashmir.
