Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) S.P. Vaid on Friday informed that no one has approached the police yet in connection with a video in which a youth was seen tied allegedly to an Army jeep as a human shield against stone-pelting.

He, however, added that the Indian army is doing its own investigation into the same.

Vaid told ANI, "I did see the video. No one has approached the police yet."

The video was reportedly shot in Beerwah area of Budgam district where the miscreants disrupted polling during Sunday's by-poll to Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency by pelting stones.

In the video, it shows a young man tied to an Army jeep and it is moving in front of a convoy of vehicles.

"The contents of the video are being verified and investigated," a defence spokesman said in Srinagar.

The video is being widely shared on social networks in Kashmir and is drawing condemnation.

The video has caused outrage with former chief minister Omar Abdullah demanding a probe into the incident.
