Army personnel being trained for Commonwealth shooting events

The Indian Army has continues to maintain its dominance in the domain of Rifle Shooting by consistently identifying talent and nurturing the same to become champions.

During the 26th All India GV Mavalankar Shooting Championship held at Kadarpur Gurgaon from 20 March to 27 March 2017, Sowar Pradeep Kumar of the Indian Army won a Silver Medal in the Free Rifle 300 Mtrs (Three Position) event.

In view of his consistent performance in the aforementioned championship and previous national events, he has now been selected to represent India in the Commonwealth Games and is presently undergoing rigorous training at the Dronacharaya Full Bore Shooting Rang, Kadarpur, Gurgaon, Haryana.

 

Sowar Pradeep Kumar joined 49 Armoured Regiment of the Indian Army in 2005. At that stage he knew nothing about shooting but exhibited a rare talent during the normal training events. He was identified as champion material and facilitated to undergo training at various levels. He was finally selected for Army Marksman Unit (AMU) team in 2015 and onwards for competition at the national level.

Hailing from a lower middle class family of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Sowar Pradeep Kumar has the talent and the capacity of putting in the hard work required to become a champion and is a potential medal winner for the country in international shooting events.
