Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh on Thursday evening confirmed that the gun battle between militants and security forces at the Pindi post of Jammu and Kashmir's R S Pura Sector is still going on.

"We have had reports of an infiltration of terrorists from Pakistan. They captured an Indian vehicle and were travelling in it when somebody spotted them and immediately informed the army," Singh told ANI.

"The army took action and the terrorists took refuge in a bunker. As per the last reports, the battle is still going on," he added.

According to reports, the militants sneaked into Indian territory by taking advantage of unprovoked small arms firing from across the border earlier today. The Border Security Force (BSF) had cordoned off the area after the villagers reported the movement of militants.

The BSF has further confirmed that three civilians and three militants have lost their lives, while three Army men have been injured in the ongoing gun battle.
