Arrested Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy sent for police remand

Five Indian fishermen, arrested by Sri Lankan Navy this morning, has been sent for police remand till October 25 by the Mannar Court.

The arrested fishermen are now lodged in Sri Lanka's Vavuniya Prison.

The fishermen belong to Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram and were detained along with one mechanised boat, while they were fishing near the Delft Island.

Earlier in the day, they were taken to Sri Lanka's Kankesanthurai naval camp, and were under investigation.
