Arunachal: Body of drowned Russian national recovered

The body of a Russian national, who reportedly drowned while on a rafting expedition in Kamala River near Tamin under the Lower Subansiri District on October 31, has been finally recovered.

As per sources, the five-member team from Russia had reached Kurung Kumey from Guwahati a few days ago and the incident took place on October 31.

When contacted, lower Subansiri DC Gamli Padu informed that the body of the deceased was recovered on Wednesday at the Kamala River.

"We had no information on the tourists visiting either Kurung Kumey or Lower Subansiri district and the district administration came to know about the incident today," said Padu.

 

He further said that the body has for now been kept at the General Hospital, Ziro for post-mortem and the police would need a clearance from the Russian Embassy before they go ahead with the medical formalities.

He also informed that the state government has been made aware of the incident and accordingly Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Chief Secretary S Gamlin are constantly in touch with the district administration.
