In a bid to promote adventure tourism in Arunachal Pradesh, the state government recently organized a three-day festival in Mechuka Valley.
Mechuka, in the West Siang District of Aruncahal Pradesh, is one of the most picturesque destinations in the Northeast.
Efforts are on to make it a popular destination for adventurers.
Recently, the second edition of adventure festival 'Mechuka 2014', was held with participation from tourists from across the country.
The three-day mega event featured various adventurous activities like trap shooting, mountain biking, para gliding, rappelling, archery, rafting and kayaking.

"The event is quite varied, there are lots of events has been included and encourage by the participation from various officials many public leaders and people from outside has participated here so this will become a very big adventurous event for the state I'm looking forward for much more bigger skill from next year," Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs.
Besides adventure and sports activities, cultural performances of various communities mesmerized the visitors.
Ethnic cuisine, handicrafts and traditional attire were also displayed.
The festival was organized by state tourism department in association with the Union Ministry of Tourism with an aim to showcase Arunachal Pradesh as an adventure tourism hotspot.
Such festivals will not only boost the tourism industry, but also generate employment for locals.
