The United States-led air strikes targeting the Islamic State (IS) may have prevented the group from advancing in Iraq but analysts suggest that the group may be ramping up operations designed to capture Baghdad one day, a report said.
The IS holds the same number of towns in Iraq today as it did two months ago, when the U.S. started a bombing campaign to whittle down the terror group in Iraq and Syria but analysts believe that it may be planning to take the international airport and begin conquering the capital, section by section, reported The Washington Times.
The group has been continuing its urban attacks with car bombs and foreign suicide bombers.
The Pentagon too, is not confident if the Iraqi forces will be able to retain control over Baghdad.
