Even as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary Amit Shah kicked up another row with his 'vote to revenge' remarks in Muzaffarnagar, some children ran a marathon in New Delhi for a different cause- communal harmony and peace.
Hundreds of children from various schools of India participated in a marathon in Delhi, titled 'Run4Unity'.
The route touched places of worship of different religions in South Delhi as a sign to build unity and universal brotherhood with everyone.
As they stopped at temples, mosques, gurudwaras and churches, they were given a token, called Golden Rule, with religious symbols embossed on them.
By the time the race reached a finishing line, the children had completed their set of 'Golden Rule', underlying the message of peaceful co-existence and a little sporty effort it takes.
"When is the next Run4Unity?" asked a student.
Organised by Italy-based Focolare Movement, the event was a part of a 'Net of Peace', which is already being organised in the cities the world over.
Maria from Focolare said, "Such events, especially with youngsters, promote brotherhood. Children were visibly very happy to be a part of the run."
St. Lawrence School of Mussoourie won the Chiara Lubich Peace Award- named after the Italian peace activist.
