ANI Lahore (Pakistan)

An accountability court here on Thursday sent Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif to eight-day judicial remand in connection with the Ashiana Housing scheme case.

The court order came after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) requested an extension of Sharif's physical remand. However, the court turned down the NAB request and sent him to judicial custody. Sharif will be again produced in the court on December 13, the Dawn reported.

Sharif, who was arrested by the NAB on charges of misusing authority and corruption in the Rs 14 billion Ashiana Housing Scheme during his tenure as the Punjab Chief Minister (2013 to 2018), had been in physical remand since October 5.

His remand was extended many times in the span of past two months. It was last extended on November 28.
