Former England left-arm spinner and current head coach of Lancashire Ashley Giles has backed out-of-form Eoin Morgan to regain his batting form after a duck forced him to trudge back to the pavilion during his side's 111-run defeat to Australia in their World Cup opener in Melbourne.
Morgan, who replaced Alastair Cook as ODI skipper late last year, continued to struggle with form as he scored his fourth duck in five innings against Australia.
Reflecting on Morgan's batting slump, Giles said that Saturday's dismissal was quite an odd one as he tried to pull off the end of the bat and got caught behind but he was pretty confident he (Morgan) could come through that, Manchester EveningNews reported.
Giles further said that Morgan could score against the best sides, adding that his record overall was still pretty strong and he was just struggling for form at the moment.
England will next face New Zealand on Saturday in Wellington.
