The Director General of Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa has asserted that the country's National Action Plan (NAP) is proving to be effective in cutting off funds for terrorist groups operating in the Islamic Republic.
Major General Bajwa pointed out that few of the most vital achievements of the action plan included military operations in parts of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), intelligence-based operations across the country and the choking of funds of terrorist groups, reported the Dawn.
While noting that youngsters were the prime targets of terrorism recruitment drives, he added that Pakistan had been working to develop measures focusing on the nation's youth to counter terrorism. He added that they have started with some pilot projects for the de-radicalisation programmes, which have now been extended to the national level.
Major General Bajwa added that while parts of the NAP have already been launched, some of these require more time due to 'political challenges.'
The NAP was devised in the aftermath of the Peshawar school massacre to tackle terrorism. The 20-point plan was accepted by all political parties.
