As people across the world are busy watching the FIFA World Cup 2014, youngsters in Assam are sweating hard to hone their skills in soccer. A newly formed football coaching centre in Jorhat imparts training to budding players.

'Tiki-taka' is a style of play in football characterized by short passing and movement. Here, in Jorhat - Tiki-Taka is the name of a newly formed Football coaching centre, which imparts two-year training to young players.

Over 50 boys and girls, below the age of 13, are going through rigorous training under the guidance of Pankaj Neog, a former Indian goal keeper.

After training, the best players will be selected for Inter-District and All Assam B-Division League. These players want to join professional clubs and even play for their country in the future. And they are working hard to make their dream come true.

"We want to give proper training to students at Tikitaka and make them play at the district level so that they can be prepared to play at the national and international levels platform," said Pankaj Neog, Coach.

"My dream is to play for Indian team. There are good clubs in India like I-league and Shillong Lajong. So, if I get a chance to join and play for these clubs, it will be good," said Konkon Mech, a student.

Football is a craze among the youth in the Northeast. They have been closely watching the ongoing FIFA World Cup and many of them are learning the techniques of their favourite international players.

" At our campus, everyday around 15-20 people gather to watch the World Cup. We all enjoy the match together and we feel good," said Krishna Dutta, Football lover.

Although India has never come close to qualify for the World Cup, it does not seem to have dampened the morale of the soccer players from Northeastern states.
