ANI Kabul [Afghanistan]

As many as 35 Islamic State terrorists were killed after the United States military attacked their tunnel and cave network with a GBU-43 bomb late on Thursday.

The death toll was confirmed by the Afghan government officials.

Known as the Mother of All Bombs (MOAB), the 21,600-pound GPS-guided munition was dropped on a tunnel and cave network managed by the terrorists in Nagahar province.

Meanwhile, Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, in a series of tweets, has dubbed the attack as "an inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country".

' I vehemently and in strongest words condemn the dropping of the latest weapon, the largest non-nuclear #bomb, on Afghanistan by US, he said.

"This is not the war on terror but the inhuman and most brutal misuse of our country as testing ground for new and dangerous Weapons. It is upon us, Afghans, to stop the #USA," he added.

One of the 21 missing Kerala youth, who was later found to have joined the ISIS, was also killed in the bombing.

The information about Murshid's death was received by his family through a telegram message.

Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer while confirming the use of the bomb said, "At 7 p.m. local time in Afghanistan last night the U.S. military used the GBU 43 weapon. It is a large, powerful and accurately delivered weapon. We targeted a system of tunnels and caves that ISIS fighters used to move around freely making it easy for them to target the U.S. military advisors and Afghan forces in the area."

Spicer added that they used all necessary precautions to avoid civilian casualties and collateral damage.
