At least 45 people were killed and at least 56 others were wounded in a car explosion in southwestern Baghdad on Thursday,
According to CNN, the blast targeted a busy car market in the predominately Shiite al-Bayaa district, said an official.
People's Daily, China also tweeted, "At least 45 killed on Thursday in car bomb explosion in southwestern #Baghdad, the third blast in the Iraqi capital in three days."
Yesterday, at least 18 people were killed in a bomb attack on a predominantly Shia suburb in Baghdad after a suicide bomber detonated a vehicle in Sadr City, targeting a busy street full of garages and used-car dealers.
At least 42 people were also wounded in the attack, which was claimed by the Islamic State (IS) group.
On 2 January, 35 people were killed in a bomb blast in Sadr City, in an attack claimed by the IS.
