At least four killed, 30 wounded by gunman in Kansas workplace

At least four people were killed and atleast 30 wounded on Thursday when a gunman opened fire at a lawn mower factory in a small Hesston town of Kansas in United States.

The shooting rampage, which also left 30 people injured, happened at multiple locations, including Excel Industries, a manufacturer of turf care products in Harvey County, 35 miles north of Wichita, Sheriff T Walton reported to the Guardian.

Gunfire was exchanged and law enforcement shot and killed the shooter,Walton said.

Walton informed that the shooter was an employee of Excel but declined to identify him or say how long he had worked for the company.

The gunman, an employee at Excel Industries, located in a tight-knit community north of Wichita, was among the dead.

Local media identified the gunman as Cedric Ford, who worked as a painter at the factory and had posted a picture of himself on Facebook with an assault rifle.

Witnesses reported seeing the gunman first shot a woman in the parking lot of the factory before entering the assembly area and opening fire.

Another man who was inside the plant when the tragedy unfolded said people ran for their lives screaming 'fire, fire' as the gunman sprayed the assembly area with an AK-47 and a 9mm gun.

Paul Mullet, President and CEO of Excel, told that the gunman was a current employee, but declined to offer further details.
