Atlanta fans threw bananas at AC Milan players during their 2-1 victory in the Italian league Serie A clash at home.

Guinean International Kevin Constant, who plays as midfielder for Milan, and Netherlands midfielder Nigel de Jong picked up the offending fruit thrown onto the pitch, while their teammates appeared to sarcastically applaud the home support.

According to the BBC, the Atalanta fans were warned that if they repeat the incident the game would be suspended.

Atalanta boss Stefano Colantuono said that whoever threw the banana on the pitch deserves to have a coconut thrown back at them, adding that they ruined what had been a great afternoon.

Milan boss Clarence Seedorf said that he hopes that they find the culprit and do what they have to do.

Constant had reportedly been on the receiving end of racist abuse during Milan's pre-season tournament match against fellow Serie A side Sassuolo in July last year, and got fined for 2,500 pounds as he had kicked the ball into the crowd and left the pitch.
