A suicide attack on a girls' school in Kabul has been foiled by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) on Tuesday.

The security forces shot and wounded the would-be suicide bomber, who is a militant of the Haqqani network, reports Tolo News.

The plan had been to bomb a girls' school in Chahar Asiab district of Kabul.

The NDS said in a statement that the shooting incident occurred in Khoshi district of central Logar province, where the would-be bomber, Bakhtullah, had plotted the attack.

According to the NDS, Bakhtullah confessed to the plot during preliminary investigations and said he had been appointed by Rehan, a commander of Haqqani network, to carry out the bombing.

He further said that he had undergone training and had been given his suicide vest by Panjabis in Miranshah in Peshawar, Pakistan.
