Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has planned on cutting down the greenhouse gas emissions, by keeping it between 26 percent and 28 percent by 2030.
According to the BBC, the announcement came in the wake of a key international meeting in Paris in December, to agree on a new global climate strategy.
The gas emission cut planned by the Australian Government is less than that pledged by countries such as Canada and the US.
Australia's previous target was to cut down emissions by 5 percent by 2020.
