Australia's High Commissioner to India Harinder Sidhu today appointed eighteen high profile Alumni Ambassadors to champion prestigious Australian Government Scholarships across the South Asia region.

This year's group of Ambassadors - ten from India, and two each from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan-will visit leading research and higher education institutions in their respective countries and share their experiences of studying in Australia with students, faculty and administrators.

The Australia Awards-Endeavour Ambassadors Initiative recognises the valuable contribution of alumni in raising the profile of Australia as a high quality study destination.

Since the commencement of this initiative in 2014, Australia has appointed 83 Alumni Ambassadors from various academic institutions across India and South Asia. A new group of Ambassadors is appointed each year.

The Australia Awards-Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships are an annual competitive Australian Government awards program for high-achieving students, researchers and professionals from around the world to study in Australia's world-class education institutions or undertake a professional development program.
