Over packing before heading for holidays is a common mistake made by millions, but women are the worst culprits for taking home unworn clothes.
A new research has found that women only wear as little as a third of the clothes they pack for a holiday, the Daily Express reported.
The study conducted by Debenhams revealed that the average woman needs 57 items in her suitcase for a two-week trip, although many pack three times as much.
Almost 80 per cent of the 1,000 women questioned in the survey admitted to taking extra items, while a third said they were caught out by excess baggage charges due to overenthusiastic packing.
Of these women, nearly half admitted to lying about the weight of their bags to their partner before leaving for the airport.
The poll suggested that around 40 percent of the respondents said that they add to the load by shopping for more clothes while away.
