An international aviation lawyer has said that it was a carefully calculated move to declare the Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 tragedy an accident the day after the airline proposed a compensation for the victims' families since it helped streamline the compensation process.
According to News.com.au, the Department of Civil Aviation declared the MH370 tragedy as an accident adding that all 239 passengers and crew members on board the Malaysian airlines flight were presumed dead.
American lawyer Jerry Skinner, who is representing five Australian families bereaved by MH17 said that they were going to demand that the law should be followed and that Malaysia cannot make up remedies.
He said that his next concern was that the families participate in the scheme and sign up.
Malaysia signed the Montreal convention under which the next of kin of each victim is entitled to a flat compensation payment of 180,000 dollars.
