Avril Lavigne makes her comeback after battling Lyme disease

After fighting Lyme disease, Avril Lavigne recently gave her first public performance in more than a year at the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles.

Debuting her latest single 'Fly' at the ceremony, the 30-year-old singer said that it was a very beautiful night for her and she also thanked the fans who support the Avril Lavigne Foundation, reported People magazine.

The 'Girlfriend' hit-maker also shared a photo of herself singing in an embellished black Alice + Olivia gown on Instagram and captioned it, "Honored to have performed my song Fly at the opening ceremony for the Special Olympics tonight."

 

Talking about her disease that was diagnosed in 2014, Lavigne said that it had been a difficult year fighting through Lyme disease and she was happy to have made it on Olympics stage for her first performance in a year.
