Bangladesh's Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday said that they have busted an "arms making factory" in eastern Comilla Sadar upazila and detained three people with firearms making equipment.

RAB official said the team acting on a tip-off, carried out a raid at a house in Shubhopur area around 6:00 p.m. and caught Majedul Haque Rajib, Shaiful Islam Rony, and Ariful Islam red-handed from the spot.

"We recovered several firearms including pistol making equipment and caught three people red-handed while making firearms," the Daily Star quoted Major Mostafa Kaizar, Commanding Officer of Rab-11, as saying.

He added that the criminals have been using a room of the house as a factory and making pistols using local equipment.

Bangladesh's authorities have stepped up security across the country following the recent terrorist attacks, the most prominent being the July 1 attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in the elite Gulshan area of Dhaka.

Indian national Tarishi Jain was among the 20 hostages killed in the cafe by the attackers.

Two policemen were also killed in almost a 12-hour siege.
