B'luru: Two guards detained on charges of gangraping woman

Two security guards have been detained on charges of gangraping a woman in Cubbon Park on Wednesday night.

An assistant Sub Inspector who was doing his rounds yesterday noticed the lady sitting all by herself around 2:30 am and she revealed upon questioning that she has been allegedly raped, after which she was immediately brought to the police station and a detailed statement was taken.

"The woman came from Tumkur to Bangalore as she was interested in Tennis and wanted to join the tennis club in Cubbon Park. Upon realising that the club was empty, she waited in the parking area till around 9:30 am when the two security guards noticed her sitting by herself. After they approached her, she told them that she needed directions as she did not know the route out of the park, following which, they took her to a secluded place in the guise of helping her and allegedly raped her," District Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil told the media here.

 

He added that the matter has been taken very seriously and a case has already been registered under section 376-D.

A detailed investigation in underway and the medical investigation of the victim and the accused have also been taken.
