Australian emerging speedster Pat Cummins has been ruled out of the upcoming Bangladesh Test series with a serious back injury.
Describing the injury as 'a new early-stage lumbar bone stress fracture', Cricket Australia physiotherapist David Beakley confirmed that the 22-year-old speed merchant would not be able to participate in the Bangladesh Test series, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Beakley further said that Cummins will now enter a lengthy rehabilitation program.
Cummins, who has only played one Test, struggled to cope with back pain sustained during the recently concluded one-day series against England.
Meanwhile, World Cup-winning all-rounder James Faulkner has been roped in as replacement for the injured bowler in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in October.
