A couple in Ukraine have set a world record by attaching a rope using metal clamps pierced into their backs.
Mariya Gafitsa and Pavlo Klets crossed 550 metre of the Dnipro River in Kiev using Tyrolean traversing techniques pioneered on Swiss mountains, the Mirror reported.
The pair put their trust in clamps pierced into their own backs, instead of supporting their weight from a harness and wore a supplementary harnesses as a back-up in the event that the piercings tore off, sending them plunging into the water.
