A constable who was accused of raping a minor girl in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh was arrested on Tuesday.
According to reports, the constable, one of two policemen to be accused of sexually assaulting the minor, was arrested from the Bareilly railway station.
Earlier this week, the UP government had announced a compensation of Rs. five lakh for the victim.
The two accused constables have also been dismissed from service while two Sub Inspectors and the SHO of Musa Jhag Police Station have also been reportedly suspended.
According to the victim's family, the constables reportedly dragged the girl to their quarters when she left her house to use the bathroom and then allegedly raped her.
This incident comes just a year after two minor cousins were found hanging from a tree in Badaun.
