Badaun's Superintendent of Police Balendu Bhushan on Saturday said the woman, who died during the birthday celebrations of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav here today, passed away because of a heart attack and not due to the stampede.
"She died of heart attack and not because of stampede: Balendu Bhushan, SP on Badaun stampede incident," SP Balendu Bhushan said here.
A stampede reportedly occurred today when Samajwadi Party MP Dharmendra Yadav was distributing blankets among the locals on the occasion of his party chief's birthday.
Expressing his dismay over the incident, state BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai said that proper security arrangements should have been made at the event.
