At least 28 people have been killed in a series of bombings in Iraq's capital city of Baghdad, officials said.

While a car bomb in the northern Shaab district killed at least 10 people, a suicide bombing at a nearly market claimed more lives, reported the BBC.

Nine people were killed in a separate car bomb explosion in the Bunouk district.

Several others were injured in the attacks, medics said.

Although no group has claimed responsibility for the bombings, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has often carried out such attacks in the past.
