ANI General News

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Balbir Punj today arrived in Kolkata with a party delegation to investigate the violence against BJP workers.

The BJP MP spoke out against the Mamata Banerjee government by stating, "Since Mamta Banerjee's government formed in West Bengal, the political violence has escalated instead of going down. In the spate of violence, BJP workers are also falling prey to it."

Punj also added, "Since the Government was formed by Banerjee in the state, 157 political killings have taken place and 37 political workers were put under so much pressure that they were forced to commit suicide."

Since the upcoming elections were announced, Punj said, more than 50 people have been killed.

He termed the killings as a disgrace on the face of the democracy, adding that the BJP will not tolerate such political killings.

He has been accompanied by MP Kirti Azad and central observer, Siddharth Nath Singh, on the trip.
