Balochistan suicide bomb attack claims life of senior police officer, many others injured

A senior police official was martyred and at least 10 other people, including two police officials, were injured in a blast near Boghra Road in Balochistan's Chaman area on Monday morning , Balochistan Government Spokesperson Anwarul Haq Kakar,the Dawn News reported.

At least 10 people were also injured when a bike-riding suicide bomber targeted the convoy of the senior police officer, local media reported.

The injured, including police personnel were shifted to nearby civil hospital. An emergency was declared at government hospitals in Quetta.

Three critically injured persons have been sent to Quetta for further treatment.

The site of the blast has been cordoned off and the security has been tightened around the city following the incident.

 

Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri has condemned the attack and expressed grief over the incident. Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan also condemned the attack and has sought a report from the relevant officials over the incident.

Two other police officials providing security to the DPO were also seriously injured and have been transported to Quetta for medical treatment.

An emergency has been declared in hospitals and law enforcement and rescue officials have been dispatched to the site of the incident.

SSP Mohmand was serving as the district police officer of Qilla Abdullah.

The border crossing between the town of Chaman and Spin Boldak is the second most important crossing on the Afghan-Pakistani border.
