Ban on Uber to continue in Delhi

ANI New Delhi

The Delhi government has reportedly decided to continue with the ban on web-based cab booking company Uber.

As per reports, the government has asked it to fulfill the conditions laid down in recently modified Radio Taxi scheme for taxi operations in the national capital before seeking revocation of punitive action.

Under the modified scheme, the licensee has to maintain a minimum fleet of 200 radio taxis either owned or through an agreement with individual taxi permit holders.

The Radio Taxi should be fitted with GPS and GPRS based tracking device, printer and display panel showing path traversed and total distance covered.

The Licensee also needs to either maintain a call center or operate through an authorized call center or web portal.

The Delhi Government had banned Uber and other web-based taxi booking services from functioning in the national capital after the alleged rape of a 27-year-old finance executive by the company's driver.
