Over 100 students of a government primary school in Bangalore fell ill after consuming their mid-day meal.
They were rushed to a local hospital here.
Karnataka Health Minister U. T. Khadar said some responsibility and guidelines should be fixed to avoid repetition of poisoning cases in schools.
"It is very necessary and essential; some responsibility should be fixed.... I will discuss this with the Education Minister. We have some guidelines. We cannot repeat this type of cases and we are seeing this, in place like Bangalore this has happened. What about interior places? Thorough discussion will be there with the Education Minister," said Khadar.
Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Alok Kumar, said the school students were taken to the hospital after a lizard was seen in container.
"There was nothing alarming about the incident. Around 40-50 students are undergoing treatment, but no one is serious. Around half the children have already been sent back home," he added.
The incident is being investigated by the local police here.
