Bangalore Police on Wednesday arrested the chairman of the privately-run Vibgyor School where a minor girl was sexually assaulted by two gym instructors.

According to television reports, the chairman, Rustom Kerawalla, of Vibgyor School was arrested after it was found that there was delay on his part in reporting the crime to the police. It is also alleged that he concealed information related to the case from the police. It is also alleged that the Kerawalla tried to destroy evidence relating to the incident.

He has been charged under section 201 of the Indian Penal Code, section 23 of the Juvenile Justice Act and section 21 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

On July 2, two gym instructors had allegedly raped the minor girl inside the premises of Bangalore's Vibgyor School when she had gone to the washroom out of which the skating instructor has been arrested.

After the incident came to light, angry parents vandalized the school premises demanding an explanation. They alleged that the school management was not addressing the issue with utmost urgency.

Residents of Bangalore have taken to streets to protest against the incident and a massive crowd gathered outside the police station demanding justice for the girl on Saturday.
