The Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said that the age-old strong relations between India and Bangladesh are based on mutual understanding and confidence. He also said that the two countries are able to resolve issues amicably and the cultural and socio-economic relations are growing rapidly.
The issue of fishermen drifting unknowingly into each other's territorial waters was mentioned in the meeting, and it was agreed that the return of such people to their respective countries should be further expedited.
The Union Home Minister further appreciated the cordial implementation of the Land Boundary Agreement between the two countries.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Secretary (Border Management) Anoop Kumar Srivastava were also present on the occasion along with the senior officers of the Home Ministry and Bangladesh High Commission.
