A Bangladesh court on Tuesday postponed the verdict in a war crimes case against Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami due to his illness.
According to the Daily Star, the tribunal has decided to keep the case waiting for verdict again as it is not logical to pronounce the judgement in absence of Nizami, said Justice Enayetur Rahim, chairman of International Crimes Tribunal-1, which was scheduled to deliver the verdict today.
AKM Nasiruddin Mahmud, registrar and spokesman for the international crimes tribunal said that the court was informed about Nizami's ill health in a letter sent by the jail authorities earlier in the morning.
The decision to postpone the verdict was announced by the chairman after the letter was placed before the three-judge panel.
Meanwhile, the tribunal also ordered the jail authorities to submit a full report before it on Nizami's health condition as soon as possible.
