Bangladesh has expressed concern over a US trade bill, apprehending that the country might lose its competitive edge in the American market due to the preferential treatment given to Trans-Pacific partners.

According to the Daily Star, Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Mohammad Ziauddin spoke at different meetings with US Congressmen Brad Sherman and Tom Marino on Capitol Hill in Washington on June 15 and 16 respectively.

Tom Marino is the chairman of the subcommittee on Regulatory Reform and Commercial and Antitrust Law while Brad Sherman is the ranking member of the subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee.

Ziauddin briefed the Congressmen on Bangladesh's trade relations with the US during the meeting.
