Bangladeshi rescue workers are yet to locate the water vessel that capsized in the middle of the mighty Padma river yon Monday
, as it ferried 200 people to Mawa Ghat from Kawrakandi terminal.
According to The Daily Star, soon after the double-decker Pinak-6 sank in the river in Lauhajang upazila of Mushiganj, locals rescued two female passengers from the river, who died later.
However, rescue workers were unable to retrieve any more bodies or locate the vessel due to strong currents.
Deputy Commissioner of Munshiganj Saiful Hasan Badal said that at least 120 people are still missing
The accident happened in Munshiganj district, about 30km (20 miles) from the capital city of Dhaka.
Almost 50 people have been rescued from the ferry, the Pinak-6 so far.
Local police Chief Tofazzal Hossain said that the ferry was overloaded with passengers and capsized because the river currents were rough.
