Bangladesh has sought an explanation from Pakistan's envoy in Dhaka regarding the country's condemnation of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Abdul Quader Molla's execution.

Mian Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi Qureshi was summoned to explain the resolution adopted by Pakistan's National Assembly condemning Bangladesh's decision to execute Molla for his involvement in war crimes of 1971, Dawn News reports.

Foreign Ministry said Molla's trial and punishment was country's internal affair and Pakistan's reaction was uncalled for.

The 65 years old Jamaat-e-Islami leader was hanged on Thursday for his involvement in war crimes during Bangladesh's war of independence from Pakistan in 1971.
