Public sector bank employee unions have deferred their four-day strike that was to begin from Wednesday.

United Forum of Bank Unions Convener M V Murali said the strike has been put on hold after the Indian Banks' Association assured that wage issue will be resolved by the first week of February.

There are 27 public sector banks in the country, with employee strength of about eight lakhs.

Earlier, employees unions had announced that they will go on a four-day strike from January 21 to protest against long-pending wage revision issue.
