Barbra Streisand to be honored with Top Cinematographers accolade

Barbra Streisand will be honored with American Society of Cinematographers 2015 Board of Governors Award, at the group's 29th annual ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards event to be held on February 15 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza.

The ASC Board of Governors Award is given to a person who has a made mark in taking foreard the art and craft of filmmaking, and the previous recipients for the honor include Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts, Christopher Nolan, Warren Beatty, Francis Ford Coppola, Sally Field, Morgan Freeman, Ron Howard, Sydney Pollack, Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, among others, Deadline.com reported.

The 72-year-old singer is only artist to win Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, DGA, Golden Globe, Peabody Awards, as well as a National Medal of Honor, France's Legion d'honneur, the American Film Institute Life Achievement Award, and the Kennedy Center Honors.

 

ASC president Richard Crudo said while announcing the award that "Streisand's accomplishments across the entertainment industry were unparalleled, and we look forward to celebrating her groundbreaking contributions to the art of filmmaking."

He added that her 3 directorial films had earned 14 Academy Award nominations, and her ability to working with cinematographers to get her vision "was a hallmark of her directorial work.
